Look What We Bought

At almost exactly seven months into our journey into Mexico, and at 28 years old, we own a house smack on the ocean. It's official; closing was today. Checks were written, keys were handed over, and the "for sale" sign was taken down. Now, the real work begins. Further details to follow.

congrats!! now remember: i'd like multiple outdoor fans, an assortment of outdoor comfy furniture & tiki lamps, exposed beam ceilings, a pool with a swim-up bar, an assortment of jet skis, and a jeep wrangler.

I am so happy for you both. I can't wait to hear what it is like to live with the water and beach as a constant companion.
I wish I'd been as smart as you when I was 28!

So happy for you! You will love living there no doubt! It is in Chelem right? We have been thinking about buying there but were worried about beach erosion. You think it is a real concern or are we just being chickens?
You have soooooooo much land, so many possibilities! It's wonderful! Congratulations!

Hi Julie,
It is important to remember, that a favorite pasttime of expats is to repeat any little tidbit of what they perceive as "insider" information to each other, without bothering to investigate the facts. While erosion is no doubt a problem (as it is anyplace that water meets sand), it is by no means the "end of days" scenario that some make it out to be...and we're not nervous about it. It's nothing that moving back on our giant lot won't fix. :)
Thanks for reading.

I would not know about what expats are saying, you two are the only people that I "know" living in the Yucatan...But you are right, it won't happen tomorrow, and we only have one life to live (or do we?), so we might as well live it on a beach!
