Progreso's CFE Bomberos?

Can anyone tell us just what the devil is going on in this photo? This is a CFE truck, which is the electric company, and this morning we saw them blowing water at high pressure onto their pole-mounted electrical transformers, which created not just a lively light show, but also a cooling mist that hovered in the air. They were stopping at every pole...what are they doing, and why?

Probably trying to give them a jump start. It works for cars, so why not?

Spraying for termites?

By the looks of it they were probably trying to cool the poles since it doesn't rain much there.

My guess is he is trying to commit suicide by peeing on a high voltage line.

They were spraying it to get the sea salt off of it.

Small sea water particles begin to fly above a wind velocity of 5 m/s. If wind velocity exceeds 8 m/s, a partial discharge is very likely to occur, especially around a distribution transformer. Sea salt rapidly deposits onto the insulators or covered conductor during the sea water spray from a wave above 3 m. The best way to get the sea salt off of the insulators or covered conductors is with a high pressure fresh water spray.
