Robert Ullman’s “Teeny Bikini”
One of my favorite illustrators, Robert Ullman, has recently released “Teeny Bikini,” a $2.00 pocket-sized collection of drawings of girls in swimsuits. Ullman’s work can be seen in Spin, Make, and elsewhere, as he continues earning his keep as a freelance illustrator. Something about his work really appeals to me…much of it is a wonderfully stylish combination of influences, including (to my eye), 50s pin-up art, manga, and Archie comics.
In fact, Ullman’s art is on my short list of “to buys,” as I am finally trying to get some real art in my home, and get rid of all the Jessica Simpson posters purchased from the electronics section of Wal-Mart. His originals are reasonably priced and quite striking; I suggest you buy some.
